In the late 1960s and early '70s, steam returned briefly to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, when Copper Range 2-8-0 No. 29, built by Alco in 1907, was returned to excursion service. It ran out of Calumet on the Keweenaw Central. With the August sun reflecting off the ample snowplow pilot of the Consolidation, it pulled its train of 1920s-era coaches through the sparsely populated forest land in 1968.
